Acquired a 580B that wouldnt move under its own power.
I split it at the torque tube to 4 speed and put in new friction plates and steel plates, thrust bearings and the clutch piston seal. I used toilet bowl wax to not cut the oring in the snap ring groove.
Now that its back together, I am still having the same issues, low pressure on the converter port and clutch port.
When i have the top plate off the torque tube and put it forward or reverse, the clutches stop spinning and i get a significant amount of fluid that comes out of the clutch plates. Seems like this is not correct based on the drawings in the service manual.
Also, I pull the torque tube top plate to ensure the screen was clean and it is. I can blow air through the lines that run up to the filter. I have sat the torque plate over a 5gal bucket of fluid and used a drill to spin up the pump, the shuttle spool and clutch spool seem to be working. When everything is installed, the hi-trans turns very pink with air for some reason.
I also noticed fluid in the torque converter cavity and it about 1/4 full of hi-trans. I have mixed information as if there should be fluid here or not.
I cannot raise the rear end off the ground as the digger attachment has been removed for ease of working on it in the shop.
Looking for any guidance or assistance as to what could be causing the following issues or if this is normal/not normal:
Fluid coming from around the clutch frictions/steels when in forward or reverse.
Fluid in the torque converter housing.
Low torque converter pressure at the test port.
Low clutch pressure at the test port.
I do have the part catalog and service manual.
