case 580c swing tower

What is swing tower made of ? Need to weld on repair bushings. Is it cast iron or cast steel.

I am not 100% but I am almost sure it's cast iron. You need to grind on it and see. When you grind steel there is yellow sparks with sparklers. Cast iron normally has a dull red spark. That's how I normally tell them apart. Get a piece of carbon steel to test and compare if unsure.

It`s cast iron. I line bored mine and made oversized bushing for cylinders.
