Case 580K Question

In the online picture of the swivel housing for the front axle of the 4x4 machine, item # 7 is called a "wear ring" on the Case site but the Coleman Equipment site calls it a "seal". The service manual also calls it a "wear ring".
I have a leak which is dripping on the inside of my front wheel and would like some input from someone who has had one of these apart so that I might get the correct parts ordered before taking this apart. Much appreciate the help.

wear ring/seal

On the 580k before phase 3 machines the wear ring is sold as a kit with the seal, but you can also buy just a seal if your wear ring is good. I think your seal is a K395102 and lists for $64.93 and the k395138 kit subs up to a 1349265C1 which is around $176.30. There is several other # on that k395138 before it gets to the C1 part so don't be surprised from a old stock number. The parts man should be able to confirm that when you talk to him. I would pull the wheel and set the axle tube on blocks or a good jack stand. This way you can get a good look at it. There is two studs that have a taper that holds the planetary cover to the hub along with two taper screws, the two parts are sealed with a liquid gasket that sets up after a short time. I have seen where the tires have been removed and those two taper studs have worked loose to allow then two parts to start leaking in the inner wheel/rim. The pulling of the hub down to the removal and replacement of the wear sleeve and seal can damage the inner bearing during removal depending on the seal not wanting to come out of the hub or the bearing wanting to stay on the swivel housing so don't be surprised if you need to buy a bearing or bearing /race doing this job. You will also need some liquid gasket so don't forget that. If you heat that wear ring you have to be fast to get it in place. Cold you need to be careful while installing that it goes straight, and use some sealant like red locktite on the swivel wear ring area. I would just make sure you know that's the leak/drip area before you pull it down.
