Case 95XT

I have a 1999 Case 95xt that I just recently bought. The guy was upfront and said it seems like the spool valve is a little sticky for raising and lowering the boom. I took it to my local case dealership to work on, and change engine oil and filters. He said it’s not the linkage. It’s the actual spool valve. But he said no problem. We can take that out of and take down the high spots put it all back together and it won’t cost too much. he then called and said that there’s no gasket kits or any of these valve bodies (228188a5) left in the world. after he got in to it, he said it was $1900 just in labor to pull the valve and that they have no ability to do any machining in house. I would have to send it out. He then said that they could get a new valve. They sent it off to a machine shop that said a pin fell out and scored the inner bore of the valve body and it is not fixable. No parts left in the nation, no parts at any salvage yards in the lower 48 states or possibly the world. The last time I talked to the dealership he said we’re looking at about $8000 plus. It’s pretty sad that I may have to scrap this machine out due to one small repair. That cannot be made. What are my options?

Did you check ebay?

Also on older motor graders when parts go bad we will use a generic replacement. I am willing to bet you can find something that can work.

Here is one

Skid steers are basically, an engine, two or three pumps and some drive units. It is all repairable and or replaceable. Might need to weld a new bracket or drill new holes but it can be fixed.

Georgia Iron- I already called on that part from eBay that you listed, I know it’s still on their website but when I called them, they said they have no inventory of them parts and they said that part that’s online was sold in June 2020. The valve that I have has been sent to sun source and they said the inner bore scratched and cannot be repaired. I’ve called a lot of other salvage yards and came up with nothing. Now trying to work with Ronco to see if anything can be machined or remade that sun source was not able to do. I probably should’ve bought a John Deere.

Here is something similar. I would think that some equipment salvage yard that dismantles machines would have something that will work. Most all skid steers have the same functions. I would look at other brands and see what you might be able to use. I have not replaced that exact part so I can't give you a definite on it and I don't have time to pick apart how that control body works. There is information out there if you are willing to take the time to figure it out. Someone on here might be able to post up a link to a salvage yard. If I come across one I will post it for you.

This is for a later model , I bet you could get it to work.

Good luck

If you're dead set on scrapping it, you can give me a call and I'll find a home for it. :)

That said, I can't see that there isn't a work around for this. You need a competent hydraulic shop that's willing to think outside the box.

Case, Deere, Cat, Bobcat etc doesn't matter, it's a 25yr old machine. Once you start getting into complete assemblies like that which are often outsourced to begin with, good luck finding them new.

That said, I personally would just order a new Prince monoblock spool valve like the RD series, or a stack valve like the SV series and configure it as close as possible to what you have. There are hundreds of combinations you can get them configured in, I'm sure something would work with a little ingenuity.

IMG_5314.jpegJust an update, the dealership leased me a SV280B for a week until mine was finished. This turned into an expensive nightmare, and I did lose some faith in Case equipment. I got mine back yesterday! I would say it was nice to have the fancy cab with heat and doors and windows, but still glad to have mine back. The SV280 had faster hydraulics but for doing the heavy digging and lifting the 95XT feels more stable.

So what did the fix end up being? Find a used/N0S valve body or retrofit something?

MG84, it’s a very long story that played out for about 6 weeks. Case was of no help at all. I called Case headquarters in Racine WI, they told me it’s the customers responsibility to find their own parts. After calling 20 to 30 Salvage yards across the entire nation some local guy had one that he was parting out because his machine started on fire and we were able to use the salvage part from the burned up 95XT. I asked about buying the rest of this salvage machine, the dealer said the wheel motors were already gone.
