Could someone please be so kind as to direct me where to find the coolant drain plug on a Cat 3306 block? I am trying to completely drain all coolant out of this engine before I fill it back up with new. The engine is on a 977L SN 11K7373
There really isn’t one. Or, anything easily accessible. The lower radiator hose or anything near the water pump inlet will do a good job. But, your mileage may vary.
I couldn’t think of one either. I’m not familiar with track loaders, but the coolers if it has them may have drains? I usually do as @Coaldust said, lower hose ect. Then flush with rainwater till it stays clear. Then refill with new coolant.
If it was me i would drain as much as I could from the radiator/lower coolant hose then fill the system with water and run, then drain again. Rinse & repeate until what drains runs clear, then refill with the coolant of choice.
Lots of coolant drain points on a 977L firstly you have one on the bottom hose casting of the Rad' then you have the main cylinder block drain plug that is on the nearside (Left side when sat in seat) the plug takes a 3/4" A/F socket to undo and is about 1/3rd from the back of the engine about mid block high, the coolers have drain plugs that are easy to spot but hard to get at.
