Cat d4h xl series 3 impliment pump

Wound up replacing the implement pump on our dozer 8pj00702 d4h xl llll. I found a capacity chart for the hydraulic to be 17 gallons but it only held about half that after draining the tank for the repair. Can someone shed some light on that please? Thanks,Todd

I found a capacity chart for the hydraulic to be 17 gallons but it only held about half that after draining the tank for the repair.

The attached chart in the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the 8PJ-series tractor states a tank capacity of 9.5 gallons. I'd bet the chart you were looking at was quoting the capacity for the complete hydraulic system.
