Cat service history records?

I’m considering buying an older Cat 287d Skid Steer from a neighbor, It is a hydraulic leak and needs new tracks, but the thing has been rock solid for him. The hour meter has never worked, but the guy he bought it from said the engine was replaced by the dealer years before he bought it, but there is no proof. Is there a way to get the service history with the serial number? I assume that the dealer wouldn’t just give it to me. I appreciate any suggestions.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Is the machine still in the same territory of the dealer who originally sold it.? Then there might be a chance.

With a build date of May 2005 then after almost 20 years it is highly unlikely much information would be available for it unless it was still in the same territory. If it has gone "out of state" from the original selling dealer the only history that would be readily available would likely be the application of factory-mandated Service Programs.
