So i have attached some pictures here. You can see the idler sits/ aligns more to one side than the other. The other idler on the other track of the dozer is centered between the yoke.

Hello I have a Cat D4D 78A, does anyone have any tips for aligning the track roller frame with the sprocket on D4D, 78A?

I am getting some where and the track tends to fall off.
Have you had the dozer for an extended time and was the problem with the tracks showing when you first got it ? It could have a bent dead shaft or broken one .

If the track keeps wanting to walk off, I'd check more than just the alignment. Make sure the roller frame pivots and bushings aren't worn out, check the recoil spring and track adjuster are working properly, and inspect the sprocket, rollers, and idlers for uneven wear. On those old D4Ds, worn guide components can make it look like an alignment issue when the real problem is play in the undercarriage. Also verify both roller frames are sitting square and the track tension is set correctly.
