My KW only 'Shows' 440xxx, Processor was reported to have over 800xxx. More speedometers are broken than functional. Fixed this one and it logs miles again.
And with that I can really be sarcastic----Idle time for 5 months out of the year-sometimes 6 for hotI get the impression a lot of truckers think every truck is moving 65 mph down the highway all day, every day. I always encourage people to look at the hours to get the whole picture.
I've seen ~10yr old trucks with 60,000 hours on them.I did a job awhile back where we needed a backhoe. The truck that brought the backhoe was started probably at 7, drive 45 miles and idled the rest of the day till about 3, drove 45 miles home and was done.
That's an extremely hard day for a truck, especially if they change oil on miles and not hours.
And burns allot of fuel over a year.High idle saves a lot of repairs
Its not so much idle time though, its application. And with that I can really be sarcastic----Idle time for 5 months out of the year-sometimes 6 for hot
weather, running a engine at a replacement cost of lets just say 50 grand to even things out, all to
cool ones a$$ crack & keep sack sweat in compliance, not to mention the cost in diesel-----Is nut's.
No pun intended. The driver-{If you think I'm going to set in there and sweat you got another
thing coming}---as he reaches for another Little Debbie snack. {The object is to put weight on
not lose it}.

During summer and winter months we had trucks with as much as 75% idle time.
This day and age application doesn't matter but the diesel particulate filter does. And the real badIts not so much idle time though, its application.
I did the math on one of my dad's trucks one time - it averaged a speed of about 35 km/h over its life. It also spent its life pulling 120k lbs out of the bush every day. It idled for maybe an hour a day at most.
You need to work the engine though to keep the DPF happy. Sitting in a truck stop, idling 10 hours a day is a lot different than your truck pulling its guts out on a bush road all day and then being parked and shut down all night. This day and age application doesn't matter but the diesel particulate filter does. And the real bad
thing is with all the extended oil change intervals--high idle time is forgotten. A 30,000 interval
becomes 35 to 40,000.
