Hi people...have just bought a D4 7U Cat dozer ...where can I find the serial no. to find age of machine...got a service manual coming soon...any tips re sevicing that would help in the meantime...TIA

There could be two brass tags , left side of the main engine towards the rear of it and on the rear of the bevel gear housing . There will also be a number cast into the motor on a flat area just above the crankcase , left side towards the front .

Thanks mate...will look toomorrow....any advice on how to adjust tracks & how tight to have them...

Open end spanner, WD40 and some grunt, about 1" dip along the grousers between the top roller and idler.
