When the Transmission oil is cold the temp bypass valve sends the oil to the Water = Oil Cooler, as things heat up some the oil starts to go into the Air to Oil Cooler, at around the 170-F point the Bypass Valve is fully closed directing oil into passing through both Coolers, you need to keep a pressure gauge hooked into the top location of the Transmission Filter constantly under any test, this would show around 330psi at low idle and 375 ish at high idle, the Speed Clutches will show the same pressure but the Direction Clutch reading will be (Should Be) about 55psi lower, the inlet pressure to the Converter when cold is around 135psi, the outlet pressure should be around 36 to 46 psi depending on how hot things are, these pressure settings can be shimmed up to spec, but all the time you should be keeping your eye on the gauge that is fixed into the filter head cap, the gauge size needed to check this transmission is a 0 to 600 psi max and for the outlet pressure a 0 to 150 psi max item, another important point is to check the low and high idle speeds of the engine are within limits, checking the spool settings in the transmission is a bit of work but often to be found incorrectly positioned, the direction spool is checked in the Reverse position with the end of spool flush with case, the Speed Spool is checked in N with the reduced shaft on the clevis end fully out from the V, Bock, so the bigger section is just flush. tctractors
