i am looking at maybe getting another d7e(had one several years ago i sold, dumb move), it is coming up for auction, however the description says it starts/runs, doesnt turn left going forward but does turn left going in reverse, is this just a brake issue? just trying to determine if i want to drive several hours to check this out.

Mudhole, if you had one then you know how to adjust the brakes. And what the pedal feels like when they need adjusted. I would make the drive. I've seen this before on other tractors where uneven lining wear caused them to feel and turn different forward and reverse.
i owned it for about 2 years and cleared about 20 acres with it then sold it, only thing i had to fix was a busted tranny hydraulic hose and the track tensioner. I am sure if it is just the brakes i could adjust or fix them, my main reason for posting was to see if there was another reason that could cause this.

Doesn't make sense if it's a brake issue. May be a pressure issue. Not enough oil pressure in forward (leak) but enough in reverse.

Not unusual to have the steering clutch teeth and drum grooves worn enough to where they hang up and don't release going forward but work ok in the less used reverse direction.

canopy fuel tank seat platform has to come off pull covers unbolt clutches have to roll machine forward to get to all bolts lift clutches out 250-300 lbs
Dave, you sound like you might know these birds? I have an unusual situation with a 7 and still looking for a guy that actually knows these.
OP, there are pressure test ports on each track clutch. I might advise looking up some data on where and how much and/or maybe take a test kit with you. Proving that the clutches are getting proper pressure proves out more than just the clutches, that ensures the trans hydro pump is up to nuff. Never seen one with a "notched clutch basket" as we call them in the motorcycle field. I had another that I think had around 12k hrs and no hint of such a thing. There is an hr meter very near the injection pump with a little flip cover on it. It is not true "hrs" but very useful.
If you can push something, that should also help determine if you have clutch issues. Or if you can even pull something, pull that left lever and see if you get left action.
