D8K with D342 Spacer Plate Engine: Tons of Black Smoke and No Power

Have you checked the muffler for obstructions, a blocked muffler will send exhaust gasses back into the precleaner melting it.

A d7G had a new operator that was too fat and lazy to remove the heavy rain cap on the exhaust and ran it for a few hours like that. Completely melted the precleaner and soot everywhere in the air filter.

Did you do a Cylinder cutout test? Plugged intake, remove air filter?check for critter nest’s, check fuel nozzles, cheers

Good to see an update on this tractor.
I’ve not experienced that issue on any of my 12 x D8’s though in 35 years,so I’ll leave it to the qualified chaps.

You need to start by cracking loose injector lines at the pump to see which cylinders are actually firing.
