Can anyone tell me the main difference between a Cat 972H and 966H from a parts point of view. Will many parts from one fit the other. For example do they have the same transmission, axles, loader frame, cylinders, bucket etc? Any help would be much appreciated.

Serial Numbers (prefixes at least) would help but basically the 966H & 972H are pretty much different animals. To start with the engines are different (C11 vs C13) and it just goes on from there. Power train components are not interchangeable as units, although they might share some common spare parts. Hydraulics & Implements are the same.
