Forks and frame for my Deere 310 L. Do I grease?

I threw the forks on the fork frame that I use on my Deere 310 L backhoe. Sliding the forks on the frame into position is a major PITA. I have to move the top 1/4 of an inch, and then the bottom. It's sticky as hell.

Should I grease the frame and forks so they slide easily on the surfaces?
