Mega kudos from me, BobCatBob!
I'm working on an old restoration project myself that I'm blogging in the Shop Talk section. We sound like similar people....pencil operators having a blast restoring some beat up old machines
I am about to get into the clean/repaint phase and I am super interested in your experience with the phosphoric acid. How did that work out compared to all the grinding? How did it do with residual paint/grease? Can you just wash it off onto the ground?
I'm working on a Gradall and the nooks and crannies thing has me really intimidated when I think of grinding/sanding. I am considering sandblasting, but I don't have the facilities to do that easily (working in borrowed shop space).
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your thread!
PS....my condolences on the tires. I got a quote on TWO flotation tires for the front of my 4x4 carrier and I would have sworn the guy was pulling my leg. He wasn't.
