hello i hate to ask for help again as i never seem to fix anything on the manilift.
However i have to fix this leak, the basket only swivels in one direction, you can hook a tractor to it and pull it around then hydraulic works but like i said in only one direction. It leaks constantly even if youre not trying to move it.
Its leaking out of the round swivel, theres no way to see inside it.
Its not leaking out of the aluminum box.
nor the hoses you can see.
maybe this time i will be able to fix it, its really leaking bad, about 2 gallons every hour

Looks like the rotary actuator needs new seals in it. It has been quite awhile sense I resealed one so I don't remember a lot about it. You have to take the basket off first. I think I was able to set the basket on some blocks and retract the machine away a little without having to unhook all the wires. It don't come apart real hard.

Look up the service and parts manual on Genie's website and you should be able to see how it works. Be sure to inspect and torque the bolt that holds the basket on. That's what your life is hanging on!

Sorry I can't offer more specific help, it's just been to long so I don't remember much.

From the picture, it does look like your lower 90deg fitting on the block to the hose has been hit, so I'd check that the aluminum threads haven't been stripped in the block, in case it's leaking from there.

It's faster and easier to just replace the whole swivel assembly than re-sealing, it can be done in under an hour.

Extend basket out a couple feet and set it on jackstands, disconnect basket and retract. Disconnect hardware and hoses and swap the swivel out, extend and hook back to the basket. Cycle back and forth the push the air out.

The fitting does look a little crooked. Start it up and see where the oil is leaking from. Looks to me like oil has been leaking out of the top of the swivel.

That would be your call. We did a ton of them for the rental outfit I worked at, and the turnaround time and liability were a big factor.

If you have the time for a teardown and re-seal over a weekend, absoulutely save the $800.

Re-sealing that rotator isn't for a novice. Hell, I've been working on this stuff for over 40 years and I don't mess with those things. Purchase the Genie seal kit. Remove the platform attachment to the rotator. Disconnect and cap the lines going to the rotator hydraulic manifold. Knock the pins out that attach the rotator to the boom, the pivot pin and the leveling cylinder pin, you likely need new bushings for those anyway. Now you have the rotator assembly in hand. Take that and the seal kit to a hydraulic shop and have the rebuild it. It's money well spent.
