2 Hayes HDX dump trucks - for sure 1 of them has been saved. The truck in right belongs to a guy down in Victoria - can't remember his name at present time. Pics were shot in summer 2004 in Courtenay - WFP div. I think truck at left was an ex CZ preload truck. Maybe someone can add some info....

075 You bet that was one made by John at Quality Trimmers in Vancouver at 215 E. 2nd Ave He still makes them for us for any of the old trucks we restore He still has the paterns for all the Hayes HDX HD WHD and Clippers as well he made the interior kits for pacific That is amazing to see that still in fairly decent shape She is for sure a user or at least a wall hanger WOW im impressed Just out of curiosity Does that door have the wide stiffener on it( the wider than usual lip where your arm would rest)??? Only thing missing is the black carpet on the bottom of that door. You can see where it was . Still even has the dovetails --if they are the tin ones they are rare They were made by Stewart- Warner After that supply dried up Hiada Truck Parts had a bunch of plastic ones cast and they do work. Second generation ones came with no screw holes in them so the could be drilled out with the two screws for the Pacifc door or the 4 screw holes for the Hayes doors I get about a year out of them before they crack and break. The last ones I bought from Neil up at NIPPS in Pt McNeil and they were like about 6 bucks each so you cant go wrong. I see the inner door handle is missing!!! Those Door regulators and the chain window assy's are getting hard to find and very costly. When we get time if you want we can get into this subject a little deeper. I got some zingers about these doors OK

I noticed that, and he was in a P-16 at the end. Nice shot of H-17, though, but it would have been better red & white..... Yeah, you make it look so easy! Haha!

We have the one on the right at present. Got it at the auction in 2007. The one on the right was a pre-load, the steering axle is farther ahead on the frame. I'll post a pic of her on the weekend. Have been hauling gravel with her this last week. She had 70,000. But the 70,000 spindles are notorious for breaking, so we cut the suspension out and put 90,000 with Kenworth suspension under her.

The truck pictured above (Pre-Load)Lee Hutton got unit # H321 brand new in Franklin River Division in 1974 an was her only driver right up till 2003 when Weyerheauser sold the entire Division to Hayes Forest Services and they got to cherry-pick the equipment they wanted. Unfortunatly they had no use for preloads and old H321 was sold to Danny LaRose and then to Dorman.Of the 12 preloads that were at Franklin only 2 survived here and are still running and have their original M&B unit numbers H14 --1989 P16 and H17 1975 HDX. One other preload is still there unit # H320 however Hayes Forest converted her to a conventional but she is still hauling logs with us. HFS scrapped H90 H91 and H316 all three were HDX Preloads. Can give more info if required

could you tell me if you know where Lee Hutton is today? I believe I went to school with him and hung around some with him after we finished school a bit. The Lee I knew used to come in to victoria from Port Renfrew Friday nights with some other guys. In those days it was quite the drive

72HDX, thanks for info. Set forward axle and preloader makes sense. I have never seen set forward axle HDX models with standard configuration from new. All were preloaders but I might be wrong. Some set forward models have later been rebuilt to standard configuration. An example is old M&B unit #H320
Ooops! I made a mistake - I can't figure out what is left and what is right.. LOL
Truck with set back front axle - at left - belongs to a guy in Victoria.

OK you guys here is the "skinny" on the Linehorse H26 Went to M&B Copper Canyon new in 1966 s/n 6063030 Was eventually converted to a linehorse down there When she went on the surplus list Sproat Lake picked her up. When the big Garage sale happened over there she was sold to Lamare Lake Logging and was parted out up at Port McNeill. A sad end for another real classic. Seemed that all the M&B Divisions finally found something that worked well and then got rid of it At Franklin we had several over the years everything from the old Macks and then the HD Hayes H39 Then we picked up two HDs H208 and H210from Northwest Bay H208 became the "Yard Truck" for our Pup and Train program and H210 became a linehorse. Then our last one was a 1972 HDX H112. She was sold and became a ramp truck for a contractor in Port Alberni I know Hayesno1 has pictures of her both as a linehorse and as a ramptruck as she still is today

OK Not a biggie Is there a fuel "Float Tank" on her If so its probably the little float ball stuck in the open position and allows the fuel to fill the base up We had one of those babies and you would have to shut the fuel off after every use till we scooped another float and fixed the problem but of coarse if it would effect the selling price well maybe we didnt really talk about this LOL
