I’d like to replace the pin and bushings for the main boom pin(where boom meets body) on my zx75 hitachi. It’s pretty tight in there. Hoses and tanks not allowing for much clearance. The pin has a threaded hole in it so i can get a threaded rod in there.

Once I manage to get the pin out I need to access the bushings. Which means the boom needs to be moved clear of the body. I’m fairly new to this stuff. I’ve replaced some of the bushings and pins on the stick.

I’m also a private owner not able to hire a pro to do the job. So I’m looking for any tips and tricks for getting the pin out and accessing bushings.

I’ve got a friend with a crane truck that can lift around 10000 lbs. the machine weighs around 8tone, we aren’t sure how much the arm would weigh. Anybody have an idea of that?

The machine currently has the hydraulic tank out for a repair. So it’s a good time to work on it. Just an unsure of the smartest way tackle the job.

Any advice appreciated.

Pictures might help here.
Wondering if between the crane truck and some lines made up or repurposed, using some cribbing to use as a fulcrum?
Scratch that, forget your tank is out lol.

Tank can go back in.

But having it out provides some extra space.

I can provide some pics. Of anything imparticular.?

Just wondering if you could utilize the boom hydraulics along with some cribbing, in the right areas to lift the boom out of the way.
Probably with the help of the crane truck.
To do that, you could disconnect the hard lines on the boom and add in some temporary hydraulics lines to use the cribbing as a fulcrum and force the boom up and out of the way.
It sounds easy or doable in my mind but may not be possible.
I‘m about to disconnect my backhoe loader frame with 2 eye lags and 2 come-alongs, a garage door header and some swearing.

I removed a boom on a 210 machine by dropping the lift cylinders onto a heavy gauge piece of reo bar straddled across the track frame just behind the idlers. I plugged the hydraulic lines and craned the boom up and walked the machine back. I was able to balance the boom with a piece of square tube sitting on the thumb as in pi, you will need to find another way to support it Considering you’ll be working on it. The bushings are not hard to remove, weld 6-8 beads through the bushing roughly evenly spaced, throw some cold water on it and they will crackle and pop and shrink. Tap them out with a sledge hammer. Installing them is harder, you will need to press them in.
