Finally acquired a real oldie , 1946 CPH, ( Caterpillar Performance Handbook) with a wealth of data. Serial Numbers, HP,Years Made,weight, etc.:usa

Here's listing's for the Tractors and Graders .:)

Mistake on last two Diesel No. 212's. Later 212's were 9T. 4U is D2 and 2T is D4.

The Cat 212-9T , made from '47-'58 , Tandem Drive

The Cat 212-79C, made from '56-'57, Tandem Drive

These are the last 2 models of the Cat 212.

Actually my records show last 212-9T was manufactured June '57 and last 212-79C was manufactuared August '57. Also note that the single drive was offered on the 212 until 1954, but used the common 9T Serial Number - I doubt very many were made.

Hello KCB,

Yes, I seen the listing of the Cat 212-9T as a single drive and tandem drive.

The '59 CPH lists it as a Single drive, and my parts book is for a tandem drive .

The common 9T serial number is the confusing part , the last date of build, I'll have check my books again to see where that '58 year, came from.
