JD 570 trans

I have a 570 that when I shift into 8th gear it kind of sits half in/out then sluggishly goes into 8th fully. I changed the filters and topped off the oil. I also am wondering if these machines normally can’t hardly pull their weight in road gear let alone up a grade? There’s not any extra power and it smokes black terrible. Air filter is good. Could it have slipped timing? Maybe the two issues are related somewhat. I don’t know.

Clutch adjustments checked? How about 7th gear? Same symptoms? Any pressure checks performed?

There’s not any extra power and it smokes black terrible. Air filter is good.

7th gear is ok along with the rest of them. No pressure checks yet. I was hoping the filter change would help it. Just looking for any common things to check. Naturally aspirated.
