Got a new to me blade the other day, 10k hour 772CH
Went into it knowing it was going to need some work, but all in all I think I did alright on it. Left front wheel bearings were loose on inspection, wheel seal leaked(both appeared to, but this one seemed to show a reason). Was told that it had overheated when in AWD once. I looked at the coolers on the back and noticed they were not super clean, so that’s on the list too. I’ve cruised around the web looking at some forums trying to get some info and thought I’d cast a line here. I found when I was draining the front planetary that there was waaay more than the 3 gallons of oil in it.
I started to wonder if the planetary being completely full of oil was actually a drag on the motor. My only other thought was maybe the shaft seal on the motor is bad and it was filling the hub. I’ll continue disassembling and see if anything else sticks out. I’m the son of a retired 43 year blade operator (he’s 65) and I had a couple reasons for buying this, him being one. I ended up borrowing a blade earlier this year (‘87 140G) and I threw him in it. After running M series since ’09 and being out of the seat for 4 years it took him about an hour to get back in the groove. I knew he was having fun, just a big kid playing in the sandbox.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
