Kubota 97-2 supply pump learn

Hi all. first time posting, have lurked a few times though.

I've essentially been tasked to turn a raisin back into a grape. we have a 97-2 that was sent to the dealer for a supply pump. once the supply pump was installed the dealer tech diagnosed the engine also needed injectors. upon repair he discovered that water had got into the fuel system and voided the warranty. my company collected the machine tore down then let it sit out in the elements for almost 3 months before tasking me with it.

what I've done: new common rail, intake clean out, fuel filters, oil change, injectors, MAF sensor, valve adjust, injector trim codes. (not in that order)

once everything was back together I couldn't get the machine to run, it was throwing MAF codes. replacing the sensor eliminated the MAF code and the machine would run. but once the throttle was touched it would die. Data monitor showed low rail pressure but I was getting solid pressure to the supply pump from the filter. I unplugged the pressure sensor and she would run for about a minute. the tech at the dealer told me that it needs a supply pump learn because it has a new pump and injectors. when performing the supply pump learn, it failed. now the machine runs at an idle, but I have no throttle and the test fails overtime. tech at dealer says he doesn't know where to go from here. so neither do I.

if anyone has any suggestions, id deeply appreciate it. thanks.

Update - found previous posts on this forum under error code P3019.

Texa scan tool requires there to be a fuel temp, which a v3800-t-2mg Kubota does not have. A tech was able to wire in a resistor to the pins where a fuel temp would be on the ECM to fix his issue.

Another tech found out that his fuel pump wasn’t in time with the engine, but he was having no start issues I believe. Retiming his engine and pump fixed it.

My engine purs like a kitten, with no smoke whatsoever and no other codes (other than P9400 which apparently always appears with P3019) so my shop lead doesn’t believe it’s a pump timing issue. We’re still at a loss.

Can this engine run well at an idle with the fuel pump being out of time? Before the supply pump learn failed it ran really well at medium idle aswell.

Read here I believe that the pump has to be perfectly timed on the gear train or it will never run right. It apparantly has marks on the gears that have to be perfect with regards to Cylinder number 1 on top Dead center. That is what I recall.

I have a 100 hp Kubota tractor that got struck by lighting. The dealer ended up replacing all 3 computers and got it running but several things didn't work correctly. The speedometer was off, 4x4 worked but light wouldn't come on, Heater didn't work right, etc. I used it like this for years until I finally found a Kubota WSM online and was able to program the new computer correctly. The dealer acted like they didn't know or care why the computer wasn't right.

I'd find a Kubota WSM for your model skidsteer and go over the pump replacement and learn section yourself. Seems like shops just want to hit the highlights and move on these days. Especially if you've already worked on it yourself.

Pump timing is certainly critical, however beings as it starts and idles well, but dies not attempt to throttle would lead me to look elsewhere.
What are the active codes?

Supply pump learn can derate to idle. I have an ecm on the shelf with that exact problem, ended up changing ecm. Course that one had been deleted. . ..

Actives codes are 3019 (initial pump learn incompletely) and 9400 which is a EGR related code. The other 2 posts I found with 3019 codes also have 9400, once the supply pump learn is completed 9400 goes away.
last thing I told my boss was that I think it needs an ECM at this point. They're still hoping it’s something simple still.
