Any users found a good Mac alternative to mail, I note it no longer meets Gmail specifications.

I used Outlook some on my Mac, but have moved to just browser based. Thunderbird is also a good option that is free.

second vote for thunderbird. I no longer use it, but I popped and then IMAPed with it for a while.

protonmail.com is free and sends your mail encrypted.
Even the owners and their employees cannot read your mail.
That is what they claim.
I use for almost all of my mail.
