michigan L70 Battery installation issues

Someone removed the batteries in this loader and didn't mark poss and neg. what is the factory default? was it negative side in?

Batteries are hooked up in series, Positive to negative. You have to follow the cables. Battery 1 positive connects to starter and alternator, Battery 1 negative connects to battery 2 positive, battery 2 negative connects to battery disconnect switch and then to ground.
