Local Company owner called as to a comment I made some time back as to 'Helping Out', best intents can be HUGE ass overloaders. Between COVID and lack of ethic in local force he is between rock and hard place, has contractual obligations and asked if would come drive for him, part time, local Quad Axle Dump Truck work, NOTHING Outside the county in a 30 mile radius area. Start this morning 7am ride along and see how the equipment works places need to go, then IF manage to see something worthwhile of me later in week start driving one of the extra trucks on the yard.
And YES, is my OWN GD Fault, open mouth insert foot or whatever untasty tidbit happens to evolve.

First day not bad, Kid they had do a trial run and align the dots for places to offload went smooth where he set me on my own after second load(Demo Work). Total four loads of excavated dirt and 6 loads of broken concrete today, finish up a small amount tomorrow at that operation, likely not work Friday. Essentially a Fill In Relief worker.

Truck is a Newer Freightliner 114HD, Cummins power eaton 08DLL tranny, have yet to use the Deep Low or Reverse, empty shifts like a four speed in back two gates. Freaky electrical system, wipers will randomly make a swath, engine brake has a mind of its own and determines when will work IF works, actually rides OK for rubber block suspension.

sounds like a sweet relaxed gig.
I did a cash only gig driving a solo for a shady character, for a short while. He did not take care of the equipment to my standards. If not for that I liked the solo driving.

Have driven Sterlings and was surprised how awful they were as to small component failures
This one is on par with Sterling

Short day yesterday, hauled five loads out one load of road rock in and then worked escort/guard for hauling the 210g to another site, just 7 hours.

Training of sorts yesterday
Escort duty hauling a D6H high track semi U and ripper out to Gasconade MO farm site where shown controls on a late model Trail King hydraulic drop neck and returned it to the yard then rock load hauls to locals and a learning session on self loading from contract sites.
Picked up #1 raw clay at a remote site loaded own truck with a older but clean 963B was hustling to make delivery and going back with another driver for a half day(6hours) Saturday to haul more with a different rig. Four heaping buckets full equated to roughly 20t.
The raw clay is in rock form predominantly where is used in porcelain to cement to kitty litter. Locals small scale shallow pit mine it where this company hauls it.

Bidness Day today!! Driver I hauled clay with to learn the 963 loaders had to do some make up so AGAIN volunteered for this morning half day!

STarted before dawn, retrieve trucks from yard head to pit and I got to make first load out on both trucks, admittedly SLOW a bit intimidated by the speed of the 963 and power to drag out a 3Yd scoop but we made two runs then gave up at some 34t each. The brutes I ran today.

That is a nice 963. Can't tell if it's an A painted like a B model or a B model.
