Video from field evaluation with DelDot

This video was shot during our field evaluation with the Delaware DOT (DelDot) DelDot is already a customer of ours with 6 of the C86 AWD Compact models in their fleet. The video is a typical Delaware road that requred the shoulder or "hipp" as they call it to be cut down to allow proper drainage. The C110 performed perfectly. :thumbsup

Here is the link to the video posted onyou tube.

You can go to our website at www.championmotorgraders.us and download a spec sheet and also see other photos. Just look for the C110 MAIN EVENT link on the home page. In short, we designed the machine to replace the old John Deere 570B. Its the same wheel base and height as the 570. Overall length is close to the same but the tier 3 engine requires a slightly longer rear frame and engine cowl. The JD570 had 90 HP in a naturally aspirated engine. Doesn't sound like alot by todays standards but the machine was 22,000 pounds and pulled like a pack of mules. We use a 120HP Cummins engine and our weight is 25,500 pounds. The cab is completely re-designed so I would hope that you would find it to have plenty of room to move around. Thanks.

Brian, are those planetary gear hubs on each rear wheel? How does it work comparing to planetary gears in tandems?

I will try to answer this question the best I can. The NAF Tandem has a series of gears from the drive axle out to the planetary hub. Really it acts pretty much like a traditional tandem drive that uses chain and sprockets. The big difference is that you don't have the back lash of the chains. When you shift a gear the power is sent directly through to the planetary without delay.

How come in that video he has his front wheels leaned to the opposite direction he is sending the material?? :beatsme Isn't the proper technique to lean them the other way?
Is it just to keep the wheels on the road and get everything else off to the side farther?
