On a cold planer CAT PM620 with prefix 8RF, the control unit 519-5016 periodically fails. Are there any service letters or experience in solving this problem to eliminate the failure of these control units?

Just out of curiosity how many hours on the unit, and how many hours between Module Failures?

Maybe some one else will chime in, who has access to factory info.

Has anyone boosted the unit, not told anyone and the Module lets go after? Not uncommon for things like that to happen.

Caterpillar quite often writes that “The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.”

In this case, the solution to the problem, as recommended by Caterpillar, is as follows.
Sometimes the electrical connections on the back of the 519-5016 Control Module distribution board have become intermittently compromised resulting in propellant system stalling, CAN data link faults, or loss of CAN communication between ECM's.

Remove the 519-5016 Control Module. Inspect the electrical connections on the back of the power distribution board. Ensure all the connections are locked in place. Ensure that the connections are clean and free of corrosion. Install the module and operate the machine to check for faults. Replace the module as necessary.

The 519-5016 Control Module is located to the left side of the operators seat behind the door panel.

In fact, the reasons for the failure have not been found, and if this is not a warranty case, then you just need to buy a new Module 519-5016.
