Madill plated it as a 1 3/8 main, 1" haulback, and 1 1/8" mainline. Not a skyline I guess...

OK, next question then- if it has 2 mains and a haulback, do you have the ability to interlock your mains?? I mean, I wonder if you could grapple yard with the darned thing? Now that could be cool in big wood way out. I dont know anyone grapple logging big turns from 2,200 feet. This thing maybe could do it....??

PS- those arent small mains either!

Never thought of that. I haven't run it myself so I can't say though there's no interlock handle like the ol 6280 in the cab!!! The "main" is a substantially bigger drum unlike a true interlock machine where the drums and line capacities are the same. Brakes like a 009. COrrect on the placing line. It's quite the reave when running a 4 part and using the haulback as a full safety!!

Y-09 Arrives at Juskatla, May, 1978

First 044 at M&B QCD, was followed the next year by Y-30, and Y-17 in 1983. The Y-12 arrived 2nd. or maybe even 4th. hand in about 1998.

Madill 075

Here are a few pictures of a Madill 075 operatated by Holbrook Dyson in Vernon, VI. Thanks to Trakloader, he helped me identify loader as I am a novise re such equipment. (My interest are trucks) I found a picture of a Madill 044 - old M&B Y-09. Now operated by WFP at Zeballos, VI.

I'm amazed that Y-09 is still around. It was pretty burnt out when it left here!

6 Madill Swing Yarders

Ritchie Bros Auction at Chemainus BC, 2004 was full of neat BC iron.

Here we have 6 Madill swing yarders in the lineup.
There are 3 044's, 1 144, and 2 124's seen. I'll have to dig up the S/N's.
I do know that I took about 600 pictures at this auction, lol. Here are some of them.

3 Madill 075 Snorkel-Style Shovels.

At the same RB auction there were 3 Madill 075 line loaders with snokel booms to be seen. Also was a 5675 American/Cypress, the yellow machine.

Madill 075 on tracks, painted 2-tone brown, Koprino Contractors it says.
Madill 075 on tracks, blue and white, Timberwest stickers on that rig.
Madill 075 on Rubber, stock Madill orange and white, no name on it.

Again all the S/N's from this sale need to be dug up, but I do have them.

And then there were juicers.

All types of juicer manufactured by Madill was also on the auction block.

Pic 1 is a 3200 Feller Buncher, designed by Cypress originally before the aquisition.
Pic 2 is a 1236 Stroke Delimber with a 4400 Denharco on it, popular in the US.
Pic 3 is a T2200H with a 24" Waratah dangle-head on it. Good machine here.
Pics 4 and 5 show all the shovels ranging in size from 2800 to 4800.

The Tower Type Machines!

Well it wouldnt have been a decent auction withous a bunch of 009's, s there wereat least 4 of them there - 2 rubber and 2 tank mounted. But strangely not all 4 were parked together this time......

Also were some Skagit machines including a BU-739 and BU-199, both on T-110 Self-Propelled carriers. See the Skagit thread later for these pics.

I do believe this is the famous 099!! I took this pic 1983 PCB Cypre River (Tofino BC) I never ran this tower or any others for that matter. However I did crawl around it. 90ft. 8 1-3/8 guylines 4 yarding drums haulback, main, skyline and tag drum. They mainly highleaded lots of shotgun and a little north bending. I seem to recall they had 1800 ft skyline they also had stubs for when they were shotguning to reach to the other side ot the valley for lift. I do remember them having problems with keeping the skyline up with all the weight of the line and logs, think it had a witchita brake for the skyline. I do recall talking to the operator and suggested throwing on the maxi aswell sure it had a band brake never did hear the results. The tag drum and fairlead was for grapple yarding they never did use that.

Now that there is a cool pic!

Southview-- Is this the same yarder you guys own today? The 099's in the States I knew of all had budd-stye wheels on the steer axles, but yours had spokes in your pics. I see this has spokes as well. Makes me curious. The other thing is that you cannot tell the difference by looking between an 099 and an 046. Different drums, etc, but the tinware and dimentional size is all the same. Without seeing the drums and guts its hard to tell.

I would have mistaken this for an 046 if you weren't here to guide/advise me.

Madill / Northwest 70T think these were the predecessor of the 075. Madill rubber carrier, cab, boom etc.

This 044 CZ 52-15 arived new 1977 Nanaimo Lks. I started running it in 1979 (19 yrs old):D it has all the same characteristics as the unit in your pics.trackloader. The small cab two piece windshield and lower guyline fairlead. Madill changed the cabs 80 or 81 I believe. If this was antiques roadshow I would estimate the 044 on the barge to be 1976-79 I wish I had wrote all the serial # on the backs of my photos :IMO

I'm not sure if it's 099 or 046 but I'm sure on the drum configuration!!

Is the 046 a 3 drum yarder aswell?

Another thing I recall about this yarder is they couldn't lean the pipe ahead the lines would rub on something up top, I do recall seeing a dutchman hanging off the main more than once to keep the turns away from the machine. It was powerd by Cummins.
Back to the yarder standing at attention they did have one at Franklin R. I've seen pics of it but don't have a copy. trackloader says he does. I've meet the operator he didn't give out to much info....
