We run 255's all the way around the truck and trailer on my grandpa's trucks for a couple reasons. 1, a set of dual 255's mounted on aluminum wheels are lighter than a super single on an aluminum wheel. 2, it takes a lot of stress off the axle as a smaller wheel takes less tourque to turn. 3, they are cheaper and easier to change. And finally 4, they look cooler! The only downside is that the tire rating on the front axle with 255's is only 11,300 pounds, that is why most people run 295's on the steer axle. Most of our trailers are spread axles though so we don't worry about it. All you have to do is throw some high gears in it and make sure you don't hit your tanks on the ground when you back into a steep loading dock and your good to go!
