Oh post a link to the story.
edit: I looked it up and read some of the stories, civil asset forfeiture. Looks like the DEA and other agencies are abusing power and robbing people using these laws. BUT it looks like most states have now responded with laws that make that practice much more difficult like it should be.
IRS has been doing the same thing for YEARS only not cash you pull out and carry around but rather all of the money you have in the bank. Dont need charges either, just an unpaid debt to the IRS or even unfiled returns.
Look up attorney Steve Lehto on youtube and he has dozens of videos on CAF. I don't think states have responded with many laws worth a hoot, they like taking money too much.
Actually there is a law already on the books, it's called the 4th amendment, "no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized" and also the 5th amendment "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation" and the 14th "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law" of which it is clearly in violation of all, but it just won't go away.
