tunneling a 6" hydrant run

JimBruce42 asked how i go about tunneling utilities in my way..a good question as there are lots of different ways..i answered in another post but this one comes with pics!!

First i position my machine so the buried utility is at the front of the set..then i dig straight down and my gradechecker probes untill he feels it..then i go down pretty close and he uncovers it by hand

then i like to dig down 3 or 4'
' on my side of it so when i punch through the dirt has a place to go

then i put my bucket 6" to1' under the pipe and punch through

Very nice work as always. That's similar to how I've mostly seen it done, but minus the wedge bucket, lol What are you running now? Looks pretty big. Thanksf or sharing:drinkup

Why did you do the shallower utilities first? I do the deepest utility to the shallowest to avoid tunneling under stuff.

Great explanation on how you dig under utilities when you have to. I do it the same way.

Maybe it was existing or on a different contract/letting.

i dont know why we put that stuff in first...the foremans dont care if it makes your job a little harder..
