Those Toyota turbo sixes were/are a good motor but not that good.
They seem to have developed a cult following.

Yeah getting off topic, but I bought one new in 2002, first new car. Paid $62k and back then ac was an option. Still got it and was told that they are selling in good nick in the 70's.
So use it for 20 yrs and then sell it for 10k more than you paid for it, not a bad deal at all.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Does the machine have over 3000 idle hours on it as per the ad?
Not unusual for over 14k+ total hours. Anywhere with a warm climate a dozer will sit for hours acting as an (*insert number applicable to dozer model) HP air conditioner. 20% of total machine hours would not be unusual.
All those "5 minutes here, 5 minutes there" waiting for another load of dirt to rock up add up to significant hours at the end of the day.

Add ons don't really increase the value of an auto to anyone other that the person adding them on. In the case of any Toyota auto, the value is in the quality of the build and the reputation of the builder. They are perceived by the public to last a long time with few of any problems which delivers a cost per mile far below the rest of the manufacturers. Inflation is another consideration. The dollar value of $62,000US in 2002 calculated out to $97,778.72 in 2022.

Could be a little sentimental value involved as well.
The auction was an equipment dispersal of the last two remaining Qld. ag colleges which, sadly, the govt. has recently shut down.
Over the years there would have been countless students who learned to operate a grader on that 140G who now own or manage their own places.

Ask your local CAT dealer for a CATFACTS on the machine by model and serial number. should take about 3 days. It should tell you everything any CAT dealer ever did to the machine including field service.

The silly prices do not even seem confined to the ones with the turbo 6 motor.

There is just lots of money out there in the bush at the moment. Hell I just sold 40 plain old Jap ox steers and got $2900 each.

Iam enjoying it while it lasts because we’ll all be instantly up the proverbial creek if/when LSD arrives here.
