Hey there
I just want to start off with saying I appreciate your time. I don`t take it lightly asking you for a little bit of advice.
I seen your video of pulling a motor out of a 977L.
I have a early 977L it has the K serial number. My front yokes are quite screwed. I found someone online about 2 years ago who had one. The guy was supposed to have both sides off the machine rollers, rail bar, track n so on. We drove to north Missouri, and he only had one side off. Was quite upset so it has been about 18 months now. I have decided to move on.
I found a newer model 977L I`m guessing it`s a 14K serial number model but we couldn’t find the tag but didn’t spend a lot of time looking. Visually I can tell one final drive is leaking and a hydraulic line coming out of the tank has been removed. This machine has a bad engine but phenomenal undercarriage like recently completely replaced.
I`m guess I`m looking for a little advice. The machine I got was in pretty **** poor shape. I bought it sight unseen 900 miles from my home. I had to put new manifold, turbo, new bolts and nuts holding the track pads on, a ton off other misc parts.. between the parts and cost of the Dozer I`m $18,000 or $19,000 into it and I honestly don`t even know the condition of the drive train in it. I mean we drove it around our place to where its parked but don`t know what it`s going to be like once we actually work the machine.
This other machine we believe to be an outstanding machine besides the engine and final drive leaking…. So I guess I`m just curious or what not if you were in our position would you swap motors or yokes. We done have the yokes off of our machine.
Thanks I really appreciate it
