There should be a Check Transmission light in the cluster that comes on if the transmission overheats so I suspect the gauge will work.

I can't figure out if I need Diamond Logic Builder to program the new gauge or not. I do have ServiceMaxx but I don't think that does anything other than engine diagnostics.

I'm not 100% sure but you probably need Diamond Logic Builder and a dealer password and Navistar to supply the "flash file" to make the gauge work.

I've been reading more of the body builder book and it does seem that DLB is required. I guess I'll have to check with the dealer to see if they are willing to do this.

In the meantime, I installed a boost gauge and it seems to be topping out around 20psi. Does that sound normal for this setup (non VGT)?

That's my Mecalac. Hoses are for bucket coupler, lock valves, 4 aux lines, and bucket and arm cylinders

So the new gauge came and I installed it. It appears that it does need to be programmed because after the normal needle sweep, it starts turning clockwise until it pegs and keeps trying until I unplug it. So I'm trying to get an appointment to get it programmed into the controller.

The process might be a bit of a chore. I am guessing but I believe the dealer will need to create a case file with legacy support in the service portal. The support department will edit the file in the software that runs the electronic system controller then the dealer will re-flash the system controller and the gauge should work. That updated software file is stored by VIN on Navistar's main frame computer. If you ever need to replace the ESC or It needs an update the gauge will still work.

They will need you VIN and probably the part # of the new gauge. We had Navistar add an exhaust brake to the ESC file a few years back. We are a sub-dealer. The dealer charged us around $400. Make sure and get an estimate first.
