I'm looking at getting a CAT 345B II or a deere 450c lc. Cat has 13k hrs and deere has 15k and are the same price. Which one is better? What do I look for in these machines? I'm used to deere equipment but I think I like a cat. It's going to be used in a pit for moving overburden and loading trucks.

it is about condition not brand.
The guys here are happy to comment about pictures, so get good pictures of the undercarriage, closeups of the rails and pads and sprockets, idlers.
some good shots of the main valve and swivel area show all sorts of problems. All the joints and the swivel area.
Just pretend you are a good seller trying to sell it to us. Nothing is worse than bad of vague pictures.
I personally have no experience maintaining those machines but I have operated both and have no preference, really.

What's the overall condition of the 2 machines? Hours is one factor then maintenance is another. Post some pics of each machine and some more history.

Both of those models are getting long in the tooth age wise for parts availability and with that many hours components are getting there or already wore out. Product/dealer support is going to be an important as well.
