Good afternoon. I just joined the forum here and am hoping to get some help, it looks like there is a lot of knowledge and experience on here. I recently purchased a 2012 John Deere 35D mini ex, mainly to use for some farm cleanup and landscaping work. For what I want to do I think a hydraulic thumb would be a great addition to the machine. Today I purchased a hydraulic thumb from miniexcavatorthumbs.com. They said the cylinder for the thumb is rated for 2500 psi operating and an absolute max of 2800. I don't want to damage or destroy the cylinder, so that's why I'm here. What is the normal hydraulic pressure on the auxiliary circuit for this machine? Next question, can the pressure be different on different hydraulic circuits? I don't want to turn the pressure down to protect the thumb cylinder and then lose machine performance otherwise. I have the original operators manual that came with the machine, plus I purchased the electronic version of both the technical manual and Operators manual. I can't find measuring or adjusting hydraulic pressure anywhere. looking for some guidance.

Welcome to HEF James;)!

First, a serial number please.

If I recall correctly, the auxiliary circuit reliefs come from the factory set at approximately 2800 - 3000 psi. Yes, you can adjust just that circuit. Thumbs are a maximum of 2500 psi but I would adjust it to 1800 psi. That is what we set them to. If a customer complains about holding power (which few do), then the pressure can be pushed towards 2500.

The service manual you would need would be the Operation and Test manual TM2263.

Do you plan on ever running a breaker on this unit?

Thanks for responding!

I have no plans to run a breaker on the machine. Mainly just some landscape work and grubbing out some bushes and small trees.
The operators manual that came with the machine behind the seat is OMT209413 issue ?0. The pdf files I downloaded are OMT209413 issue B9 and Repair Technical Manual TM2264 01SEP15.
I will do some looking online to see if I can find TM2263, might even try buying from dealer.

I like the thought of setting it at 1800 psi at least to start with. I don't really want to spend money on this and then damage or ruin the cylinder.
Thank You for your help

I found TM2263 online for $29.95 so I bought it. I think this is going to be just what I need. It looks like what I need is around page 9025-25-20. I haven't looked at it very closely yet but items #4&13 are the auxiliary circuit relief valves. Now I need to find a port to connect a gauge to.
