2013 john deere 244j (leihberr) has an issue with the cooling fan coming on within the first 5 minutes. The temp gauge spikes up and down. But the machine doesn't over heat. The cooling fan seems to fluctuate with throttle applications. High throttle high fan rpm low throttle low fan rpm. Anyone ever experience this and if so what was the fix? Any suggestions greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Cooling fan activated after about 5 minutes. Temp gauge spikes from hot to cold. Fan rpm rises and falls with throttle applications. No chafed wires to solenoid(hydraulic fan) harness looks good. Put 12 volts to solenoid and it magnetizes. No blown fuses either. Any one run into this before?? Any help is greatly appreciated

Posting the same question in more than one Forum can create confusion. Since the two contained slightly different details, I've merged the two threads, and moved the whole thing here, to Wheel Loaders.

Carry on...

No problem. We understand that not everybody is accustomed to posting on forums like this.

And forgive me, but earlier I neglected to offer the traditional-- Welcome to Heavy Equipment Forums!

Welcome to HEF PWD;)! Serial number?

First, the fan on a 244J should run all the time, just not full speed. Depending on the serial number it may be off during cranking only. The speed will vary based on (again serial number dependent...see a theme here:D) engine temp, hyd temp, AC on/off, etc. If there is a problem with one of the temp circuits (like an open sensor or a break in the wiring) the fan will go to full speed and stay there.

Since you mentioned that your temp gauge is spiking up and down, try unplugging the engine temperature sensor to see if the gauge stops bouncing. If it does not stop spiking then you may have a wiring issue. If it stops then it may just be the sensor. Keep in mind fan will definitely go to full speed with the engine temp sensor unplugged. Are there any codes in the display when the engine is running and you are having the fan issue?
