So I had a birthday this past week. I'm now 54. I was telling one of the guys, that I still feel like I'm 28. I know that I'm not, and I sure wouldn't be able to keep up with 28 year old me, but I really feel pretty good. I'm active, and I enjoy what I do.
I actually feel better now, than I probably did 30 years ago, when I was working a lot harder than I do today. I was taking a lot of Tylenol and Aleve back then because I was running myself pretty hard.
My "feeling old" event has happened late this week. I'm taking off tomorrow, not quite as planned for a little vacation with my wife, but instead, going to bury my little sister's husband. He was a year older than me. My wifes younger sister lost her husband, around three years ago. He was a couple months older than I am. So that's two brothers in law for me. One cancer, one kidneys.
The birthdates of the obituaries I'm reading about in the paper, are sometimes creeping up on my own.
If the next 10 years goes as fast as the last 10, I'm going to feel like I could sign up and start drawing SS next week. I've got a lot of things I want to do yet. I'm hoping for daily work until 70, but that's only 16 years from today.
I better get busy.
