Hell NO!

Bam go see if they'll take $8500 and I'll split the cost with ya! If that big JD 6 way looks good I'll wire the money over - I need a bigger dozer at the dirt dump. :p
It sure is a pretty nice website for a scammer though. I need to run to Omaha sometime tomorrow anyway. I will go check it out and report back.

I always thought a 160 would be a nice, easily transportable size.

We had a Hitachi ZX 120 and also a ZX 135usk) for several years both with progressive thumb. Really good fuel efficient machine. Pretty much the same unit as a John Deere 120 (Isuzu engine?) not sure.

Can definitely do a lot of work with a 120. I feel our current Deere 50d doesn’t use a lot less fuel than our previous 120!

I can attest to the increased productivity & operator ‘comfort’ when using a progressive link thumb! We did a fair bit of road building & clearing with these machines, a real pleasure to operate. The pictorial that Skyking posted pretty much sums it up…

This could be pretty sweet. A 314 Cat with Progressive and a blade. I always wanted a bigger blade runner.

It's got a zero Butt and bunny feet under it, pretty new guy friendly.
Pin grabber too!!
That's kind of a grail machine there. Comes with a 36" GP digging bucket, it would swing a 60" cleanup for bulking.
Set that blade right and then hog over it for stability.

So where are ya, @Buffallobull ?
How much was the driveway quote?
I suggest a nice machine is worth more than you think. It will hold value and be a joy to work, rather than make do with a cobbled up piece of crap that ends up costing just as much or more when you either:
1) shell out 10K and I'm not kidding there for a thumb installation.
2) It breaks down for 10K.
3) or both.
Buy nice buy it right and when you are done with it, consider parting with it and getting a 20K mini and pocket the rest.

I certainly wouldn’t be afraid of looking far away for the used (perfect) machine.
If it rang all the bells and it was 2k miles away, assuming you could help or suggest a return ticket, it is a one time expense after all.
While I am happy with my machines, I have traveled a bit to get them.
My backhoe, my wife found on FM in Connecticut and that’s almost 3 hours away but worked delivery into pricing.

The land is located near Hyndman PA, 50k plus for the driveway!!!

I don't know... I would buy used and just learn as you go. I did that - bought a used 50ZTS excavator - already told the story, but the machine was screwy from one end to the other. it's a dream now. I spent about the same on repairs as the original purchase, and I'm still under $30k. No way in hell I could have spent $30k on a good or new machine and have it be at the same quality mine is now.

Apples and oranges man, you're talking about a 50. We're talking about 120s to 160s, so the 50k price range is not out of reason.

Not to mention, you know know your machine intimately, like know one else could.

Looks kind of rough. One of the boom cylinders looks to have been replaced and the tracks are starting to bind up. How many hours it has is somewhat important in order to tell how much life it has left or how much it has been abused.
