Hello my fellow enthusiast

I’ve got an issue for a Komatsu PC400-7 excavator Serial No. 50478. We have a Valve ass’y with the part number 723-40-71201 that has a damaged spool. I’ve attached the diagram of the mentioned valve (item 1) and spool (item 2). The thing is that it’s impossible to buy just the spool with Komatsu dealerships, they only sell the whole valve. However, only our spool is slightly damaged (it only needs a minuscule variation to affect the hydraulic function).

We would buy all the whole valve if it was cheap but it cost almost 5K with taxes!!!!! :(:(:(

Does any of my fellow afficionados know where I can find this elusive spool? Don’t mind if it’s used as long as it is in good condition.

Good day Erick
I believe Komatsu have failed to inform you why they do not market individual spools, during manufacture the tolerances are so tight each spool housing is matched to the spool. This makes marketing individual spools a real challenge, often the spool is marked with paint (colour coding). Depending on the circuit if it is provided with creep prevention an ill fitting spool can cause creep and power loss. As a general rule the spool is made from a billet of round steel hardened any damage will show up in the housing which is of a soft cast material.
I guess this is not so helpful but may explain what the issue presents.
Kind regards
Uffex
