Of that last bunch of photos you posted--first was ex H320 after its conversion to a conventional log truck from a preload now owned by IPL The 8th pic is ex H112 after sold to cont. Pic #9 shows old H24 in the middle and pic # 10 is ex H11 from Eve River I think.Near the end of Weyerhosers rein of destruction on the coast we got about 10 trucks from all over. The reason for this was the long haul from Carmannah all the way to China Creek DLS, The driver of the P16 in the picture with #7 truck has "Cowboy" on the brushguard was killed in a fatal accident while loading the trailer over at Sproat Lake. He was a top notch driver and it shows how fast bad things happen.

Trakloader. You are right about H17 I begged them to just paint her and send her back but they just had to butcher her because they could. People could not wait to get their hands on M&Bs equipment. They took out a real nice 3408 and stuffed a C15 in her and cut up the hood so bad I finally took what was left of the hood side panels off because they looked like s### after butcher job. I am still trying to get that crap they welded on the front bumper all cut off. I think they found the pipe in the city of Duncans scrap bin. One Day her and I will go home together and then we will stuff a 3408 back in her and paint her red & white again. And yes Al Burdick drove old #7 for 33 years. I just passed him with 35 years on 17. I miss driving with Al and a whole bunch of those guys because it was fun. I cant help but look at those guys up at WFP in Gold River and wonder when the other shoe will drop. It is like looking back in time.

Sad to hear about "Cowboy" :(.
Re H112 you are right "HDX" as usual, I'll have to scan my pics of H112 as a line horse and ad it to MB tread. But anyway I better put a few pictures of her how she looks now:)

I should have guessed you were S.D. :) I'm sure sorry to hear about what they did to your truck, that was just plain stupid. Do you ever bump into old Roy M. ? It was sure a depressing time, watching all the HDX's and P-16's leave here. Just like losing old friends. :( Did you guys ever get any of our pre-loads, 135, 136 and 137? I haven't seen or heard of them since they left QC Div.

Trakloader I see Roy from time to time Frank Ham lives across the street from me, Got him on driving for us for some years then he pulled the pin. Maybe get him back driving holiday relief. We got H271 .H147 (parted out after driver was killed coming down bad hill) and H149. I was driving lowbed then and rather than unhook all the time I adopted old H44 because none of the new guys would drive her(no power) because all she had was the twin turbo and everything else was KTA power. I sure liked to drive that truck nice and smooth but alas she went to LLL along with H271 We kept 149 till HFS sold her to some other outfit maybe south america. Mike Murphy sure did a nice job on those trucks. Is that old HDX with the yarder mounted on it still around? I think it had a Clark 8 spd auto trans in it. Im kind of looking around for one for a WHD I restored. I loved the scream of those trannys. If you ever get close to any of those Hayes's go to the drivers side in behind the front (steering) wheel where the bulkhead fitting for the front wheel brakes is and scrape off the dirt and rust and you will find the serial number The HD/WHD is just a little lower and back a little further. If you can come up with serial numbers I can tell you who got the truck new.Got all the factory Hayes records and blueprints here! Only thing is Hayes used a 7 digit number till 1970 then they went to a 4 digit number. I can tell you all about those sometime if you are interested and how to break the numbers down OK SD

Hayesno1 That P16 just might be H123 originally a Cameron Division truck. It was transferred to sproat lake division when they need extra trucks and was sold to LLL when they took everything from the Alberni Valley back up to pt mcniel
