    730A champion transmission question

Sorry that I'm so late to this thread but the OP states that he has a 1984 730A. That grader may not have an 8400 transmission. It could have a 9150 if it is a power shift. Or it could have a 9138 with a power range shift. 1984 was the year everything was changing over at Champion and if memory...

Need help with Champion 740 hydraulic pump

For sure it's the gearbox. I had forgotten about the gearbox until I saw the picture. It's been quite a while since I worked on one of those

Need help with Champion 740 hydraulic pump

You didn't indicate the year or model of your grader, but if your pump is on top of the hydraulic tank, check the tank mounting bolts and the mounts themselves. If one has broken and allowed the tank to drop slightly, you are going to break shafts.

    New purchase need some advice.

I don't know what you have for buckets, guarding, catwalks, etc., but I can't even scale my EX270 on a tridem if i have both buckets.

    cutting heavy steel

I used a petro-gen torch at a demo years ago. Pretty amazing. Too expensive for the shop though. But if I was doing scrap, I would have nothing else. Rust and dirt don't bother it and the way it can cut layered steel is unreal.

    Volvo Snow Wing

Volvo does (or did) make two snow wings. A high bank and a low bank, both hydraulic. I don't know anything about them, as my Volvo's have either Craig or WBM wings, but they do show the Volvo wings in the parts book. They both appear to have 4 braces but have no illustration for the braces. I...

1996 740a champion grade popped a wheel seal

You are welcome. Make sure you get the right oil to put back in. Gone are the days of just using any old oil in the tandems!

1996 740a champion grade popped a wheel seal

I guess you do. I just saw your latest post. I'm not quite sure how to post that many pages. It'll be too big a file.

1996 740a champion grade popped a wheel seal

I scanned the parts plate concerned. Do you need the service manual pages? There are about 20 pages dealing with this due to the disc brakes.

    Hydraulic Fan: Vovo G740B

Hi, CPS No one has been working on it. Just decided to have a fit on it's own. Thanks anyway.

    Hydraulic Fan: Vovo G740B

Apparently unplugging the sensors doesn't prove anything either as it turns out they are normally closed. Disconnecting creates an open circuit. I've ordered the sensors and will have to change them out to determine which one it is.

    Hydraulic Fan: Vovo G740B

The hyd. fan is running at top speed as soon as the engine is started, even when cold. I've disconnected each sensor (charge air, rad. intake, and hyd.) one at a time, but with no effect. If I disconnect the fan control unit the fan returns to normal speed, but I don't believe this proves it's...

    Buddy barry's 1996 740 champion

I've had to buy 3 used 13" rims for 17.5R25 tires in the past year and the best I've done was about $1300.00 for rim alone. They are expensive and not too readily available. For what it's worth though, with a grader, you're not out of service with a flat tire. With a rear tire, just lift that...

    New key switch??

They are about 3" diameter and about the same deep. They have two posts on the back. 3/8" I think. Don't know what they use on race cars.

    New key switch??

Yes, on the main battery cable. You just re-route your ground cable to where you want the switch, install the switch and then carry on with the ground cable to where it was before. When the switch is flipped you have no ground hence no power anywhere on the machine. It also eliminates any type...

    New key switch??

I have ground disconnect swithes on all my equipment in places that are not visible but still accessable to those that know where they are. Doesn't save tranny coolers, etc., but does protect the machine or vehicle from theft. It also ensures a strong battery in cold weather.
