Evening all,

I have a 2017 Cat 315FL. “Tdy10762” 4000hrs approx.

Started having issues with a E1309 code, (E1389 as well but sounds like that’s just the warning code) coming up that will shut down the machine after it goes into stage 3.

First time it happened I was able to run the after treatment recovery and all was good for approx. 30 hours. After that the code came back. At this point, all removable sensors and def injector, visibly inspected and cleaned. Nothing major. Drained def tank and replaced with new def. After treatment recovery preformed with no issues. Few hours later it was back.

Cat field service came out and could not see anything major, however the Nox sensors may have been acting up, so the updated ones with brackets were installed. Def tank drained again and new def filter installed. After treatment Recovery ran and all good for about 10 hours. Now back to same issue. Any thoughts and what to do next? Waiting for field service to confirm an appointment.

Thanks in advance

Yup I’ve done a few of these. Follow the steps that nige posted.

The two most important steps will be pulling that injector out and using a camera scope to check down inside the def mixer housing. Looking for white crystallization like the document says. Then with the injector out, run the def accuracy test and look for a spiral cone spray pattern.

You might end up pulling the scr/dpf assembly off and cleaning it. Thats usually what I do when I run into efficiency codes.

NOX sensors usually fail and give out a failure code. 90% of the times I’ve seen your issue it was the def injector drizzling and causing the scr to block.

Also post a product status report for us to see.
