We had a crew that needed some plywood for forms . He sent a guy to to get two sheets ,he comes back with two sheets of finished plywood ,sends the guy back to get regular plywood (8 dollar per sheet difference in price ) . In the mean time 5 workers at $75 per hour including benefits are sitting around with their thumbs up their butt
Just got word yesterday that our best local welding and machine shop is now closed. I have used them for 40 years, and they have been around a lot longer than that. The owner for the last 35 years is about 80 and has had serious heart problems, and his two workers are no spring chickens either. They are all good friends of mine and I hate to see the end of an era. These old welding and machine shops that could repair anything or make anything are becoming a thing of the past. You guys that can weld and fabricate are to be congratulated on your skills.
