Here are a couple shots of a shiny new Cat 586 at the summit of Snoqualmie Pass yesterday 11-26-11. It appeared to be headed east; the lowboy was from Yakima......I didn't know there was any wood in that area to justify such a beautiful beast.

Most of the logging down in that area is on the Yakima Indian Reservation.

There's no grapple on it.

Thanks for the picts.

A Rare Link-Belt

I re-photoed 1200 plus old RB auction flyer pics onto film yesterday from the 70's and newer, and this one stood out as one of the oddest pics. This one was in Alberta.,never seen or heard of these before.

That is a Risley Rotosaw installed on the Link-Belt shovel. Those heads didn't compete real well with the hot saws in this area and I've only seen one or two.

I think I might have seen the shovel at some time though. As I recall Tobin logging had one back in the mid nineties.

Thanks for posting it.

The bearing may be bad but it didn't fail. The top flange on the carbody is broke loose. Those gussets make me think this was a progressive that someone knew about and figured it only had to go a couple of months more. Lucky this machine wasn't pulling out of the chute on a high lead operation. The house could have had quite a tumble.

Thanks for the photos.

Looks like first Madill on the C&C lowboy is Weyco, and the last two Deere's may be Hadallers? Not sure on the Linkbelt and Kobelco?

Cool pics thanks for sharing.

You are correct sir! The Kobelco was also on Hadaller's job. I actually met Jason and Cherie that day when I was up there. Damn nice people. We drank a few beers, cussed, dissussed, logged and built road all over the world that evening! The Link Belt was up were the TY-90 was at.
I'll get some more up when I get them resized from my tours over there shortly.:)
