What mine are you running at ziggy?

I dont want to say right now as they dont like anyone posting pics.
I have been at mines in B.C. and Nunavut but this is my first Alberta mine here in fort macnewfy.:)

Got an offer to go back to a strip mine closer to home(half hour from my house) and be in my own bed every night for a change instead of this 1000 kilometer drive home every 18 days for 9 off so then I wont mind saying where most pics were taken at.

Never let your guard down

Here's an old stiffneck champion,i was filling in a plowed in water line when i found the bell hole. The second one was me checking the undercarriage of my d10.

The funny thing is in over 20 years of strip mining in the mountains of B.C. Canada and hanging off the edge of mountaintops that I flipped my dozer backing over a 5 foot cut where I was slot dozing,I grabbed forward gear and the wrong steering clutch when it started to tilt.Getting out and trying to open the door was a major job, their very heavy in that position.

Early in my learner operator days of my career, I was told the banks that you'll fall off, are the low ones! The type that your "ring gear" isn't extremely tight when running along. ;)

Driver pulled off the road to do something then went to pull back onto the road and found this uncompacted ditchline... This was a different project along our haul route. This was back in 2003 but still shows how looks can be decieving.

The Volvo in the mud pond is scary. What was the driver doing out past the berm?

Those capping jobs are tough. Never know when the bottom is going to fall out on you.
Bet that was a tough recovery.

Not me that spent a 1/4 million dollars on each of those 12 snowcats to try get them to do the impossible, that would be the engineers.
No one listens to us operators but then again....we're not paying the bills.:)

At 1:52 int quarry crashes 3,that appears to be a 797, If its the one im thinking off it was a fatality.

From the damage it allmost looks like he blew a left front driver tire unless the picture after it is the same truck.

The truck 1:52 in the third video is a 93 or smaller. Look at the height of the door sill on the passenger's side, it's raised like a smaller truck, not floor level like a 97.

The reason I asked is we had a 793 have an impact on the front driver as it left the shovel and it didnt blow untill it was below the cab,as there is only a few inches clearance, it blew the cab allmost off the truck and blew out the windows and seriously injured the operator.

This was a first for this model Cat truck in their history and they were modified after this accident by Caterpillar.
The force was equivelant to about 5 sticks of TNT under the cab.

Ziggy, That could very well be what happened, I was just mentioning it was a different truck than Ben was thinking about.

The tire incident, was it in the Elk Valley? I think I may know the guy involved.

Yes,it was,line creek mine,just a kid.
I was pushing rock to a shovel when it happened and despite the guys size all that came over the radio was a whisper..."I think I just broke my leg"He had to repeat himself on the radio a couple times.
We got him out useing a loader and the image of the blood down the side of the truck still gives me goosebumps.

If you do know him, tell him Ziggy said hello,he will know who it is.

Small world
