jackd, i thought it might have been a rail before but the rail from the south side of the san jaun was red creek that followed right into renfrew, the one that had bear creek trestle (largest in the comonwealth at the time )... i think the san jaun bridge was built when the switch to trucks happened ,,,

I was up on oldrenfrew road last year, the bear creek trestle is still up on the hillside, with its center missing sadly, my dad remembers when they blew the center out with dynamite, after they decomissioned the camp. around 1964 i believe. harris creek camp was closed around 67 from what my dad explained.there's still a few old bunkhouses left and shopbuildings at harris and bear creek, there is also about mile of logging track that was left at bear creek, i know the logging camp at kissingering lake nitinat campwas still going in the 80's, but slowly being closed down.

Hello, I'm guessing this is where the new renfrew marina is located. i remember bcfp when i worked for them, moved from beach camp to there new location where the marina is located, there was also a log sort there as well. i believe this camp was torn down 1988. i do how ever remember there was a race that was kinda incorporated there for a few years. they then moved everything up to gordon river logging camp, which i have many pictures of as well, just before they burned the whole campdown,by the contractor. 2005,gone. i'dlike to see if anyone has any pictures of them tearing down this camp along with harris in 63 and bear creek, supposedly there is a huge old logging donkey on the left side of the olbear creek trestle, which is still standing from what i saw, kinda hard to see in the valley. maybe you can shed somelight on this. cheers

Cool stuff! I was just on a road trip to that part of the world ...last week.

My parents first house in Davis Bay came off a barge ( in the 50's ) and was dragged by Cat to it's present location on Davis Bay road.

It just occurred to me that I might have pics of the old "Georgia Transporter" self powered landing barge..sitting around somewhere. It used to pick up and drop off Jacksons Bros Logging gear on the beach down by the Standard Oil wharf.

I think that yellow cabover truck shown in Post #347 and other posts may be the same truck that is sitting to the left of that old red B Model in Post #55 in the Vintage Macks thread. Any thoughts?

Bear Creek Community Hall 1961
Picutre #1 was taken in the 50's picture was sent from a family friend . The rest of the picutres are of the Hall being burnt down on purpose to destroy it , guess it wasn't worth trying to move .
