Those two trucks would have been used for hauling the wood waste from the dry land sort to wherever they were dumping it.

Hank post 858 shows Cameron Division P16 unit # H24 with Kip White driving it He was the Low bed driver there for a very long time. When not low bedding he would haul logs as seen above. Kip was a natural!!! Top drawer driver!!!! The debris truck under that (G06) was an HDX unit number H234 and was mini rebuilt as a debris hauler from the China Creek Dryland Sort. She was originally delivered to Port Hardy Division in early 1966 then sent down to Cameron Division when it started up. Post 860 is her again and below that picture is a nice shot of Sproat Lake Division's Pacific unit # H119 hauling their debris. Don't know where the truck ended up Shawnigan Division or Copper Canyon if I remember right. The debris trailer behind H119 was sold to JW Berry in port alberni here and is still being used every day hauling cedar cut-off's (big cedar blocks) from there to various place's.

Thanks HDX I knew you would come through for the team. Were trucks moved from one location to another very often?

Hank For the most part no they were not but in the late 90's things changed dramatically!!! M&B was taken over by Weyco and things changed overnite. The big trucks (mainstay of the big forest companies) were suddenly obsolete. Highway trucks were the new "in" thing. A lot of the old company drivers pulled the pin because M&B came out with a early retirement package and bridging etc So they left and now the company was stuck with tons of new Kenworth highway trucks and no drivers. All the Divisions were breaking in truck drivers to fill the vacancy left by the old timers. I was taken up to Menzies Bay and Kelsey Bay to look at trucks being surplused What an eye opener that was YUP -- if Franklin needs trucks -- Take all you want!!! Trucks were being shuffled all around the Island as well as the QCI Division. Every Division was having garage sales. This was to be the beginning of the end as we all knew it!

The above Pacific passing through the Parksville Scales is painted in Timberwest colours carrying #41-143 , It was originally bought new by BCFP for Renfrew Div. number #6-282 and driven new by Andy Robilliard , in 1986 .

This Pacific is Semi Retired now as it only moves logs around the mill yard in New Zealand, no wrappers needed. Sept 2014 picture
