Looks like you've earned yourself a nice job there, flexi-time, new iron, new truck, little or no supervision :drinkup

Just an observation... that track looks awfully tight in the last picture compared with some earlier photos. Is that just the way its parked or is there some packing in that material?

Here is a silly question for you.How do you get back to your truck at the end of your shift? It looks like you could be a mile away from your truck after 8 hours of backfilling.I don't breathe too well and I can't see me trying to walk all the way back to my pickup at the end of the day in that darn sand.I work alone a lot too,or used to when I was working.Ron G:)

That’s why he takes his daughter to work with him. She runs the dozer and he moves the truck. :D

Great pics, out of curiosity do yoiu know what that thing rents for?

Yeah... on average...$240.00 per hr. Thats operated and maintained.
The price may vary some depending on the customer, site conditions and what kind of deal those in the "Lets Make A Deal" department come up with.

The customer always pays up front for move in and permits.

I saw that... It's just the way it was parked.

Each and every time I climb off..... for whatever reason, I always walk around my machine looking for any bubu's, owies or signs of impending breakage. :cool2

Finally !!!!:bouncegri
I'll be finished with the canyon I've been working in today.
These were some of the longest, deepest trenches.
The longest was about 3/4 of a mile with smaller trenches running of at 90's.
Those ranged from 100-300'.
I would leave my truck at about the 1/2 way point. Every day has been a struggle just to get to my dozer.

At the top of the canyon, the backfilling is much slower. Thanks to the rock.:Banghead
Yep, theres rock in them there hills.
Today I'll finish up then head for the next canyon to the east. Much of the time will be spent walking back to get my truck.
BTW, I've found it to be a royal p.i.t.a to pull my truck out of a rut when I'm the one in the dozer doing the pulling. I would have taken pictures for you all to enjoy but by that time I was ready to explode. :nono

I had better get back up to the trenches...

I thought I'd share some pics of this back pack I picked up for about $20.00 at Costco. Its made by High Sierra and if you need a place for stuff, things and whatchamacallits, it works out real well.
It's even got a water thingy on the inside that has another water/straw/hose gizmo on the outside that you drink out of. Water actually stays cool all day long. Don't ask me how, but it works.
It's got enough straps, loops and hooks that it's fairly easy to secure it somewhere on the tractor.
Oh yeah, it does you no good when you are up at the top working to find that you left your lighter below in your truck.
I should have put a few in the pack!:duh

And I don't care how hard you try, you cant light a cig by holding it against the turbo! Not on this Cat!

A couple of paper clip across the battery posts........its a one time shot, cause the paper clip usually melts in two, but it works. Your gonna need something to hold it .....2 small rocks will do. Don't ask me how I know  .

SO, has anybody watched McGyver recently........:D
